How the Casual pay calculator works

Casual employees are usually paid a loaded hourly rate — their base rate plus a casual loading percentage — instead of receiving separate paid leave entitlements. This calculator adds your chosen loading percentage to your base rate, then multiplies by the hours you worked.

The default loading of 25% is common under many modern awards, but the correct rate depends entirely on your specific award, enterprise agreement or employment contract, so adjust it if yours is different.

Frequently asked questions

Casual loading is an extra percentage — commonly 25% — paid on top of the base hourly rate to compensate casual employees for not receiving paid leave entitlements. The exact rate depends on your award or agreement.
